The dog grooming industry has shifted dramatically over the past decade, transforming from a purely functional service into a glamorous profession that caters to A-list celebrities and their pampered pooches. Singers, actors and even basketball players who have been confounding the NBA odds are all paying eye-watering amounts to get their canine friends the freshest trim.
Whilst there is definitely an element of keeping up with the Joneses, many celebrities and wealthy individuals are paying for top-level groomers because they see their dogs as more than pets. They see them as bona fide family members who deserve just as much pampering as themselves.
It’s not just celebrities and the filthy rich that are fans of elite-level dog groomers either. Videos posted on social media by top groomers regularly garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of views, and there have even been TV shows following the best in the business.
In this article, we take a look at some of the biggest names in the industry, the ones who are making pups sparkle and making big bucks in the process.
Jess Rona
If you were to ask 100 people to name celebrity dog groomers for the TV show Pointless, Jess Rona would undoubtedly be at the top of the pile – as it’s an incredibly niche question, though, she’d be top with single digits!
Based in, you guessed it, Los Angeles, Rona has transformed the dog grooming business from a functional service to an artform. Online, she has created countless viral videos, with her slow-mo poochie blow-dry a particular favourite with viewers.
Outside of the digital world, she runs a thriving business that has a client list that reads like a section of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Rona was not a dog groomer by trade until she started learning the skill after adopting her own four-legged friend. Then, she decided to combine her newly found love of doggy grooming with her background in entertainment and social media, with the results speaking for themselves.

Gabriel Feitosa
Brazil is the country credited with turning football into the beautiful game, with players and managers traditionally favouring flair and skill above all other attributes. It looks as though that famous Samba style isn’t just confined to the football pitch though!
Gabriel Feitosa, a Brazilian dog groomer is world-renowned for his artistic flair and style when it comes to making sure his clients doggos are on fleek. Feitosa doesn’t just groom dogs, he turns them into art installations. Using pet-safe, non-toxic dyes he transforms his clients’ pets into lions, giraffes and even various Pokémon.
Aside from his creations, he is also the groomer of choice for clients who are entering their dogs into competitions, as his reputation for making a pooch look its best is completely unrivalled.

Jorge Bendersky
Argentina may be the reigning world champions, but when it comes to football, the national team is less renowned for its Samba style and more for it’s Machiavellian use of the dark arts. Perhaps dog groomer Jorge Bendersky inhaled some Brazilian Samba fumes from over the border, just like his fellow countryman Lionel Messi, because his dog grooming skills are nothing short of artful.
In his early years, Bendersky was fascinated with animals and soon put that passion to use by becoming a breeder and dog event planner. Then, when he moved to New York, the Argentinian started his own dog grooming business.
Nowadays, he is one of the biggest names in the business, has a huge client list of celebrities and has even been featured on television. Bendersky was featured on the Animal Planet reality show The Groomer Has It and was even a judge on TLC’s Extreme Poodles.
Currently, he is the ‘grooming expert’ on Dogs 101.

In Summary
In years gone by, most pet owners were content to take their animals to the nearest kennels and have them shaved down to the bone. Nowadays though, there’s more respect and care for dogs and, as a result, owners are prepared to do the very best for their doggies.
At the same time, social media has given dog groomers a whole new platform to share the details of their profession. Thanks to the hard work of certain influencers and the inherent cuteness of dogs – bulldogs aside – dog grooming videos have become a hit with viewers, helping to create a cult of personality amongst the ‘best in the business.’
